01) THE PROBLEM

The video handoff brief has never had a tool of its own.

02) THE SOLUTION
END POOR FITTING SOFTWARE
Briefs often take shape in mood board apps, deck builders, and traditional layout and design tools - software built for static pages, not video.
PRORES, DNxHR, EXR - LUTs
Unlike other programs, OnDeck is designed to support ProRes, DNxHR, image sequences and LUTs all with fluid real-time playback and scrubbing.
LIVE SOURCE LINKS
OnDeck captures keep every still reference linked to its source. Double-click any still and the footage opens exactly there, with color and alpha intact.
PRESENT FROM THE BOARD
Present straight from the board and play the real footage at the real frame, without leaving the app. No juggling decks, media players, or stills.
ProRes DNxHR LUTs H.265 H.264
Many more popular playback codecs included

03) BUILD THE BRIEF

A shot brief in minutes, not an afternoon in a slide deck.

01
CAPTURE
Drag any frame out of the footage onto the board. It remembers the exact file and frame - a live link, not a screenshot.
02
ARRANGE
Look boards, shot breakdowns, contact sheets. Group, stack, tag, and tidy on one endless canvas.
03
ANNOTATE
Arrows, callouts, measurements, numbered markers, attached to the frame itself, so the note carries the why.
04
HAND OFF
Send the project, or export the board to PNG, EXR, or a contact sheet. Every capture still points at its exact source frame.
Double-click any capture and the footage opens on that exact frame. Your brief isn't a picture of the shot - it's a way back into it.
OnDeck can be yours to own forever for roughly two months of the subscription fees for other software.

04) ONE ENDLESS BOARD - NO LIMITS

The board is the presentation - and it plays.

SCREEN SHARE IT
Share your screen in Zoom, Meet, or Teams and walk the board live - pan, zoom and annotate without ever leaving the app.
ALL CAPTURES LINKED TO THE SOURCE
Double-click a capture mid-pitch and the actual footage plays at the actual frame. No hunting for a file, no switching windows.
A | B TEST IN THE APP
Put two versions side by side, wipe between them, or flick to difference while everyone is watching. The call gets made on the pixels.
OnDeck isn’t a meeting tool - it’s what you put on the screen inside the one you already use. No export step, no “let me just find that file.”
05) THE INSTRUMENT

Everything a brief needs that a slide deck can’t do.

FEAT_01 · THE BRIEF CANVAS

One board holds the whole project’s direction.

An infinite canvas for frames, look boards, and shot breakdowns. Capture straight from the footage, then group, stack, color-tag, and tidy into grids. Every session reopens exactly as you left it.

INFINITE CANVAS GROUP + STACK COLOR TAGS AUTOSAVE
The OnDeck board: captures from a ProRes source arranged into groups, annotated with arrows, circles and notes, alongside the player, Tools palette, Media Inspector and Markers list.
FEAT_02 · VERSION COMPARISON

Compare the shots - direct your team.

Side-by-side, wipe, opacity blend, flicker, onion-skin, and difference. Put the old cut against the new one live in the room, so the call gets made on what’s actually on screen, not from memory across two windows.

WIPE DIFFERENCE ONION-SKIN FLICKER
An OnDeck board routing shots to departments: captures joined by connectors and arrows with notes reading SEND TO COLOR, COLOR TO LIGHTEN and ADD PARTICLE FX, beside the player, Playlist and Markers panels.
FEAT_03 · MULTI-PASS EXR

Every pass, not just the beauty.

Multi-part and multi-layer EXRs open with their passes listed in a palette - cryptomatte, AO, shadow, normal, z-depth, reflection, refraction, GI, and whatever else the render wrote. Click any one to preview it in place, then capture the passes that matter straight onto the board beside the beauty.

MULTI-PART EXR CRYPTOMATTE AO + SHADOW NORMAL + Z-DEPTH CAPTURE ANY PASS
A multi-pass EXR open in OnDeck: the PASSES palette lists AO, Beauty, Cryptomatte, Depth, DiffuseLighting, Emission, GI, N, Reflections and Shadows, with nine of those passes captured onto the board.
FEAT_04 · BUILT FOR REAL FOOTAGE

The formats a mood board has never heard of.

ProRes 4444 with alpha, DNxHR/HD, H.264, and EXR/PNG/JPEG image sequences - opened natively, played frame-exact, with straight alpha preserved end to end and per-clip LUTs previewed in place. This is the line between a general-purpose board app and a tool built for video work.

06) AND THE REST OF THE TIME

Quietly, the best video player on your machine.

Collapse OnDeck to compact mode and it’s simply a fast, clean everyday player. Hardware-accelerated decode, RAM caching for instant scrubbing, playlists, and frame-exact stepping, in a window that stays out of the way, and on top when you need it.

Then drag the corner handle and the same window opens back into the full board. One app, both jobs.

PLAYLISTS HARDWARE DECODE RAM CACHE ALWAYS ON TOP FRAME-EXACT STEP
If you’ve been putting up with a clunky media player, this alone is worth the install.
OnDeck in compact mode: the player alone with its transport bar, timecode readout, frame rate and RAM cache indicator.
07) WHO IT'S FOR

For whoever has to get the vision out of one head and into six.

R_01 CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Builds the look board, presents it live to the room, and hands over direction nobody has to interpret.
R_02 PRODUCER / PROJECT MANAGER
Turns a scatter of references, notes, and versions into one brief the whole team actually works from.
R_03 EDITOR / POST SUPERVISOR
Keeps every note, version, and decision about a cut in a single place that reopens as you left it.
R_04 COLORIST
Assembles grade references and A/Bs versions with a wipe or difference view, in real color.
R_05 COMPOSITOR / VFX
Marks up the precise frames and elements, alpha intact, then returns to any of them instantly.
R_06 3D / MOTION DESIGNER
Pulls reference frames onto a board and annotates the intent for look-dev and animation.
Built for boutiques, freelancers, small post houses, and in-house teams, especially anyone under NDA who can't push client media to a cloud service.
08) WHY TRUST IT

Provable, not promised.

GENUINELY FRAME-ACCURATE
The frame you see is the true presentation frame, never one inferred from a nominal frame rate. Correct stepping backward as well as forward, variable-rate footage included.
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU EXPORT
Straight alpha survives capture, board, and export intact. The grade and LUT you preview are the ones that land in the exported file.
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR MACHINE
There is no network code in the app at all. That is not a privacy policy you have to trust - it is the architecture, which matters when the footage is under NDA.
NOTHING TO EXPIRE
No account to keep alive, no server that can go dark, no subscription to lapse. Projects are plain files on your disk that still open years from now.
09) GET ONDECK

Own it. Don’t rent it.

Board tools bill you every month for as long as you want to keep your own work, and hold it on their servers. OnDeck costs roughly what two months of a typical subscription does, once, and then it is simply yours.

If you’ve used Milanote, OnDeck will feel familiar. The difference is everything underneath: real codecs, image sequences, alpha, LUTs, frame-exact playback - and no recurring bill.

10) QUIET DOUBTS

Answered plainly.

Does my media get uploaded anywhere?
No. OnDeck has no network code - no cloud, no accounts, no telemetry. Boards, captures, and projects live as files on your machine, where you put them.
One-time price. Really?
Really. $24.95 once, all features included. No subscription, no seats, no upsell tiers.
How is this different from Milanote or another mood-board app?
Those are general-purpose boards that hold pictures. OnDeck holds footage - ProRes with alpha, DNxHR, EXR/PNG/JPEG sequences - plays it frame-exact, previews your LUT on it, and links every capture back to the frame it came from. And you buy it once instead of renting it forever.
Windows or Mac?
Both. OnDeck is a native desktop app on Windows 11 (64-bit) and macOS, not a web app in a wrapper. There is no browser version, and no subscription on either platform.
What formats does it play?
Video: ProRes (422 Proxy, LT, 422 and HQ, plus 4444 and 4444 XQ with alpha), DNxHR (LB, SQ, HQ, HQX, 444) and DNxHD, H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1, VP8/VP9, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 Part 2, MJPEG, and uncompressed. Containers: MOV, MP4/M4V, AVI, MXF (read-only), Matroska/WebM, MPEG-PS and MPEG-TS. Stills and sequences: OpenEXR (HALF and FLOAT, RGB/RGBA), PNG (8 and 16-bit, with alpha), JPEG. Audio: PCM, AAC, MP3, FLAC, AC-3. It all decodes in-process through a pure-LGPL FFmpeg build, frame-accurate and color-managed throughout, and OnDeck probes the file itself rather than trusting its extension.
